Recommended headsets for Windows users

For Windows users who do not have an audio interface, we highly recommend using a USB headset. These are much simpler to configure with ASIO4ALL and generally produce better audio quality than using a headset with a 3.5mm audio jack.

We have tested two affordable USB headsets in different price ranges and both work well.

  1. Sennheiser PC8 USB stereo headset (US$ 30-40)

  2. Sandberg USB Headset Bulk (approx US$ 16)

I’ve also heard about people using USB to 3.5mm audio jack adaptors successfully with low-latency audio software. These are cheaper than the USB headsets and retail around US$ 10. We haven’t tested any of these yet with Flock, but I include in case anyone would like to try. Effectively it works like a USB-adaptor for people who have headsets with a 3.5mm audio jack connector.

If possible, singers should connect the USB device directly into the main USB port on the computer and not use an intermediary device (e.g. USB port splitter or something similar).
